Major Update to the Blog/Oscar Quest Update
This is the huge news I’ve been hinting at. Or rather, hinted at once, to like, the three people that read that article. But still, news is news.
Yesterday I got in the mail those 12 DVDs I ordered from the wonderful Scooter Movies Shop. Which means, there are only 21 films left for me to watch before The Oscar Quest is 100% complete. (This reminds me of after I turned my thesis in and decided I was going to go back and play Final Fantasy VII again after ten years. And I spent like ten straight days doing nothing but playing that game and drinking. And my friend Shiho saw me doing this and was like, “You’ve beat that game in ways I’ve never even attempted to.” He watched me get 100% completion on that. Like, legit 100% completion. Everything I could possibly do. That’s what this is like. It feels good.)
But, in the meanwhile, since we still have like seven months of articles left (and I’m not holding onto this for another seven months — I’ve done all I could to hold it off until now), I’m going to unveil what is perhaps my greatest achievement during this Oscar Quest (and then another thing that’s also pretty awesome).
I can’t believe I actually get to do this for real now. It’s been done to me on so many other blogs, but now I get to do it on mine. (This is my rifle!) If you want to find out what my greatest achievement is that I’m soon going to unveil, click to find out after the jump:
You have no idea how happy I am to be able to write “after the jump” and make people actually have to click to find out what happens “after the jump.” Usually around here, what happens after the jump is, you find out that if you die in the Matrix, you die in the real world too.
(I am so proud of that reference, can’t none of you take that shit away from me. I might cry a little bit, that’s how proud of myself I am now. Don’t try to pat my back for the next little while, it’s occupied.)
In one hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world…
No, wait, that’s not it. That happened back in July.
In one hours’ time, an article will go up that IS The Oscar Quest. You know how Francis Ford Coppola said Apocalypse Now wasn’t about Vietnam, it was Vietnam? Well that’s what this article is — the Apocalypse Now of the Oscar Quest. It IS the Oscar Quest.
One article. All the films.
But not only that — my ratings of the films as well.
That’s right — in one article, you will see every film every nominated in all six major Oscar categories (Picture, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Director), as well as my ratings of those films.
And, for your convenience, should you decide you want to attempt a similar Quest as I have (though I’d imagine not many would ever be as foolish (or dedicated) as I am, especially now that you have this article that allows you to cherry pick the good ones), or simply look for some good films to watch, I have it organized so you’ll know if films are appearing for the first time, so you don’t have to deal with repeats.
And, next to all the categories, I link you to the articles that were written about them, so through one article, everything is at your fingertips. Of course, the articles not being all written yet, that’s where the whole thing is still in the beta stages. But still, this is exciting. You’ll see when it goes up what I mean.
And, to make things even better, I have another article going up, in about two hours’ time, that’s an aggregate of all my rankings in all of the articles. You know how, at the bottom of each Quest article, I rank the performances from 5-1? Well, I put all those in one article, so you don’t have to sit there and click through each article if you want to find a couple of rankings at once. Not to mention, until now, finding specific categories hasn’t exactly been the easiest thing in the world.
So, basically what’s about to happen is, we’re gonna get searchable. You can search for things now. You have your own Guide now. This blog has its own handbook (of sorts) now. Essentially…
(Oh, you knew that clip was coming.)
