2012 Oscars Update: MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) Nominations

The MPSE (finally!) announces the nominees for their Golden Reel Awards. Let’s not waste time (especially since they’re pretty meaningless to us now), here they are:

Some fucking help they are, right? They nominated everything! Well, except Zero Dark Thirty, which I feel a lot of people might have taken off their guesses list if they saw MPSE didn’t nominate it. That’s kind of weird, right?

Argo, Life of Pi and Skyfall appear on both their main lists, so everyone would have had those. Then Django is on the sound effects and foley one but not the dialogue and ADR one. But I feel like most people, if they were guessing, might have went for those four and The Hobbit, based on its showing here, and not Zero Dark Thirty. Maybe. Who knows, though.

Either way, those are the nominees. I tell you this because I did the rest of the guilds and didn’t want to leave them out, even though they’re actually eight days past the Oscars.
