Oscars 2015: AFI Top Ten Films of the Year
The American Film Institute announced their top ten films of 2015.
I typically don’t say much about them. We all know how much I love NBR. To me, AFI tends to be more populist, going for more obvious choices. Last year, they had Into the Woods on their list. They have what you’d think a list like this would have. Which means I knew right away what at least two of their choices were.
They’re usually fairly in line with NBR and what the actual Oscars (or the perception of the Oscars) would nominate.
Here are AFI’s Top Ten Films of 2015:
The Big Short
Bridge of Spies
Mad Max: Fury Road
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Straight Outta Compton
Anybody surprised? I saw this list, and the only time I said “Whoa!” was for The Big Short. Maybe it’s because I saw it before all these lists started coming out, so I’m surprised people are actually picking it.
Otherwise, Bridge of Spies and Straight Outta Compton were the two I knew would get on here. And the rest fit with everything else they’ve chosen so Far.
Star Wars being here is the story for most of the world. It means nothing to me except, “Okay, they saw it.”
AFI carries no weight with me, so I treat this as a nice list and not a whole lot else.
