Mike’s Favorite Original Songs of the Decade: #54 – “Never Forget,” from Murder on the Orient Express

54. “Never Forget,” from Murder on the Orient Express

I fell in love with this song immediately upon hearing it. Whoever’s decision it was to get Michelle Pfeiffer to sing this song is a genius. Because to have some random singer they hired wouldn’t give it the effect it has within the film, especially given her character and who she ends up being. Plus, you get to be reminded of her in The Fabulous Baker Boys, which… never a bad thing. But it’s just this beautiful little lullaby/eulogy that almost acts as a catharsis for the emotional pain all these people went through in the past. It’s really nice, and I think this song really slipped under the radar when the film came out.
