The 2020 Film Release Calendar: Films Without Release Dates (M-Z)

This has been perhaps the strangest Release Calendar I’ve ever done. Because the Oscars were held a few weeks earlier than they usually are, I wasn’t able to fit in the majority of the calendar before them. Usually I get the whole thing done by late January. And now, we’re post-Oscars, and I’m only on March. And the only reason January and February got done is because I wanted to get them up before some of the films actually came out.

But, here we are, working our way through the rest of the calendar for all the films to look forward to. I think you all know how this works — I’m gonna preview everything that’s set to come out (and a lot more that isn’t), and then guess what I think I’m gonna rate them all when I do manage to see them. And then we’ll use this as evidence of my ineptitude come the December wrap-up articles. These are my own twenty-seven 8×10 colored glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one.

Today, we’re going over the many films that are yet to have release dates (or some that got dated for articles that already came out, because shit happens): (more…)

The 2020 Film Release Calendar: February

Because of a calendar quirk, and the fact that the Oscars are happening at least two weeks earlier than they normally do, this year’s Film Release Calendar is being much more segmented than it usually is. Most of the time I do January through May or June the first few days of the year and then Oscar nominations happen and then I finish the last half toward the end of January. This year, Oscar nominations are out in ten days and then I only have time to go over Oscar categories before Oscar night. It’s that short this year. So the rest of the Release Calendar is going to be posted in February. But to make sure I’m covered for these first two months, I posted January’s yesterday and February’s is today.

We’re gonna go over all the films set to come out in February and then move onto all the other important articles I need to post before Oscar nominations come out.

So without further ado, here’s February: (more…)

The 2020 Film Release Calendar: January

And here we go. We finished one year, time to look ahead to the new one. We’re in a new decade now, even.

I normally spend the first week of the year going over all the films that are gonna come out during it. But this year’s a weird one because the Oscars take place so early. Oscar night is a month and a week from today. So we’re gonna do January’s Release Calendar today and February’s tomorrow just to get them down before the movies start coming out, and then we’ll move onto some other stuff I normally post before Oscar nominations/coverage, namely the top performance lists.

But a lot of the stuff I normally post to wrap up a year is coming AFTER Oscar season this year because it’s so early. So all the rest of the Release Calendar and the top scores list… it’s all coming after Oscar night, because that’s how the calendar works.

So anyway, here are all the films that are currently set to come out this month: (more…)

The 2019 Film Release Calendar: Films Without Release Dates (M-Z)

New year, new movies.

I begin every new year by taking a look at what movies there are to come out. It helps me to be aware of stuff so I can actively track it throughout the year, and I think it’s helpful for most people who care about movies to at least be informed of what’s going on. Far too often do I talk to my friends who are casually into movies, and they have no idea what’s coming out or when the stuff they want to see is supposed to come out.

Of course, when I do something, I really do it, so instead of just a casual preview of the big 35 movies of the year, I go all out. You’re gonna get everything as it’s currently scheduled to come out, plus another 200 or so movies that are not dated but are finished and ready to come out, plus another 100 or so that I’ve been tracking from previous years. I dare to say that no one on the internet goes as deep into their coverage as I do.

Today we finish going over the films that do not, as of yet, have release dates. This year, I’ve folded all the 2018 holdovers into this list to make it easier. Just to get it all done at once. (more…)
