Mike’s Favorite Films

If you’re reading someone who’s talking about movies, you should at least know what their tastes are. It helps in being able to trust their opinions, and gauge how their tastes will relate to your own.

Here I list my favorite films of all time. And link to a bunch of other lists broken down specifically by year. But even if you don’t get into those, I’m listing what (currently. Since they change constantly, as should be the case with any self-respecting person) are my absolute favorites.

Here’s how it works: the top ten is presented in chronological order. But, by sheer happenstance, #1 just happens to be my favorite film of all time. The rest don’t have a particular order. Everything onward is broken into sections (11-20, 21-50 and 51-100) and presented alphabetically. The higher we get, the more interchangeable the list gets. 11-20 is pretty set. 21-50 has a few that are interchangeable with some from 51-100, and 51-100 has a bunch that, if I did this list again right this second, would be left off in favor of others. The idea is to give you a general idea of what I like.

  1. So shocked and delighted to see The Thin Man anywhere on a favourite movies list, much less the first spot! I thought no one else knew about it! Anyways, that series is brilliant fun and it’s great to see it getting some recognition.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen some of the movies listed. Old time classics some of them are.
