Pic of the Day: ♫ “See reflections on the water / More than darkness in the depths / See him surface in every shadow / On the wind I feel his breath / Goldeneye I found his weakness / Goldeneye he’ll do what I please / Goldeneye no time for sweetness / But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees / You’ll never know / How I watched you from the shadows as a child / You’ll never know / How it feels to be the one who’s left behind / You’ll never know / The days, the nights / The tears, the tears I’ve cried / But now my time has come / And time, time is not on your side.” ♫
Fun with Franchises: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Part II — “Humphrey Boggart”
This week, we have another entry in our Fun with Franchises series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
In case you don’t know how this works — after doing a couple of trial runs without realizing it (Disney movies, Bond movies), I realized that I really enjoyed going through movies frame by frame, commenting on them and cracking jokes like I would if I was sitting around watching them with friends. So I decided to make it a feature on the site and enlisted my friend Colin to help (since it’s better when you have another person to play off). None of this is meant to be any real in-depth analysis. We’re just doing it for comedy and parody purposes. We’re basically just doing what we would normally when talking about this stuff, which I’m sure are versions of the same conversations most people have.
And of course, if you’re gonna do something called Fun with Franchises… you kinda have to franchise it. So we scribbled down a handful of franchises we knew we’d have the most fun going over, and that’s what you’re about to see. This is all done out of love and purely for the benefit of entertainment.
And that’s Fun with Franchises. Right now, we’re doing the Harry Potter franchise, and today is the second part of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Pic of the Day: ♫ “Hey baby, thought you were the one who tried to run away / Ooh baby, wasn’t I the one who made you want to stay? / Please don’t bet that you’ll ever escape me / Once I get my sights on you / I got a license to kill / And you know I’m going straight for your heart / Got a license to kill / Anyone who tries to tear us apart / License to kill.” ♫

Today we begin another entry in our Fun with Franchises series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Pic of the Day: ♫ “Hey driver, where’re we going / I swear my nerves are showing / Set your hopes up way too high / The living’s in the way we die. / Comes the morning and the headlights fade away / Hundred thousand people / I’m the one they blame / I’ve been waiting long for one of us to say / Save the darkness, let it never fade away / In the living daylights.” ♫
Pic of the Day: ♫ “Meeting you, with a view to a kill / Face to faces, secret places, feel the chill / Night fall covers me / But you know the plans I’m making / Still oversea / Could it be the whole lot opening wide / A sacred why / a mystery gaping inside / The weekend’s why / Until we dance into the fire / That fatal kiss is all we need / Dance into the fire / To fatal sounds of broken dreams / Dance into the fire / That fatal kiss is all we need / Dance into the fire.” ♫
Fun with Franchises: Final Thoughts on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
All right… we’ve watched the film, talked about it, had fun with it, and then we went and listed our favorite images from the film yesterday. Now all that’s left is to finish up with what we actually thought about the film as a whole.
This is our space to go over what we liked and didn’t like about each film we watch for Fun with Franchises. We talk about specific things as we get to them during the articles, and we’ll mention our general thoughts during them, but we don’t really ever get to sit and do broad strokes during the articles. So this is why we do these Final Thoughts. We get to take a step back and talk about the films as a whole, rather than discussing specific scenes or images. We’ll talk about how we felt about the film, how we liked it as a film, how we liked it as a member of its franchise, and where we think it falls within that franchise.
Again, it’s not very complicated, but it is a place to find out what we actually thought about certain movies, since, while we’re having fun with them in the articles, it may get difficult to tell sometimes. Because we’ll just rip things to shreds for fun, even if we love them.
So here are our final thoughts on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets:

Pic of the Day: ♫ “All I wanted was a sweet distraction for an hour or two / Had no intention to do / The things we’ve done. / Funny how it always goes with love / When you don’t look, you find / But then we’re two of a kind, we move as one. / We’re an all time high / We’ll change all that’s gone before / Doing so much more / Than falling in love / On an all time high / We’ll take on the world and wait / So hold on tight / Let the flight begin.” ♫
Fun with Franchises: Favorite Images from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
One of the recurring features that we do in Fun with Francises (a feature within a feature) is, after we finish watching a film, we go through and pick out our favorite images from that film. These images could be anything from really famous images from the film or franchise, really beautifully composed shots, shots that are funny to us because of the facial expressions being made in them or because of what we said about them in the article in which they appeared, or simply because they have boobs in them.
What we usually do is, just how we watch the films, Colin and I go in separately and pick out about ten to fifteen shots that we really liked. Then we compare lists, and whichever ones we both picked automatically go on our final list. And everything else we talk through and discuss why we like them, and eventually we’re left with a final list of ten images we liked the best, along with five honorable mentions, which were also as good, but just missed out on making the list proper.
It’s not very complicated (like most things we do here on B+ Movie Blog), and is just a way for us to point out shots that we really liked in the films, especially since we tend to pick stuff that’s not always on the beaten path. (We also don’t officially rank the list of shots. We just put them in chronological order. Simply picking them is hard enough. We don’t want to make our lives any harder. Plus, we’re lazy.)
That said — here are our favorite images from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets:
